What do you tell yourself? I mean the silent stuff in your brain that you don’t share out loud. It can be the loudest and most constant noise for some of us to hear. It can leave us feeling positive and hopeful or lost and hopeless so easily. It’s the silent story we play over and over again, impacting how we see ourselves, others and the world around us.

You don’t have to feel stuck, even if you have felt stuck forever. You can have mental growth, including clarity and kindness towards yourself. You have control over your thoughts, stop the spinning of negative thinking. Know the power of your words, even if you are not speaking them out loud to anyone else. You deserve to understand your words and the impact this has on your experiences, but most importantly the view of yourself. Your opinion comes from your beliefs, your thoughts, and the way you see the world around you.

You can create a point of peace or poison. Work on your awareness to identify your patterns of negative thinking, including triggers. Negative thinking stems from a lot of experiences, both past and current and is completely unique to you. Some examples include anxiety, trauma, learned behaviors, expectations from others or society, or even self-esteem. Patterns of negative thinking may look like self-criticism, all or nothing thinking, catastrophizing, and overgeneralization. What are some of the negative thoughts you keep telling yourself? How are you taking care of yourself to reduce this?

Let's be clear, no one can avoid negative or intrusive thoughts forever, but we can notice them and have enough self-awareness and confidence to let them pass by with little impact. Your state of mind can maintain positivity, even when the world around us is changing rapidly.

By changing your thinking patterns, you can reduce your stress and anxiety, improve productivity and self-esteem as you navigate the changes around you. Become more self-aware, challenge yourself while providing self- compassion, and begin to shift your focus. Practice shifting your focus right now! If you are reading this, you have a few moments to shift your mindset to something positive. Take a moment to notice something you are grateful for, no matter how small. This small act will help drown out negativity you may be hosting today. Rewire your brain to focus on gratitude, strengths, and hopefulness, rather than negativity, fear, and weakness. Create more peace for yourself. Your mind and body will thank you.
