Welcome to Peaks Therapy. This is a space where growth, healing, and vulnerability are welcomed and supported. I bring over a decade of clinical experience and focus on providing care that is compassionate, ethical, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I often think of healing like climbing a mountain- it can be tough, unpredictable, and sometimes feel like a slow climb, but each step still moves you forward. In our work together, I’ll help you make sense of what you’ve been through, stay grounded in what’s happening now, and support you as you move toward what you want for your life. I don’t see my role as having all the answers, but as walking alongside you while you build on your strengths, work through challenges, and find your own path forward.
Clinical Background
I earned my bachelor’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University and my master’s degree from Michigan State University. Throughout my clinical experience, I’ve had the opportunity to work with diverse populations across settings, including nursing homes, outpatient therapy clinics, and K–12 school environments. I have also completed post-graduate training in several specialized areas, including Dementia and Caregiver Support, CAMS Suicide Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Perinatal Mood Disorders and Support, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1).
My Approach
Through empathy and validation, I strive to create a nonjudgmental environment where your experiences are acknowledged and respected. At the same time, personal growth often requires stepping outside of what feels familiar. With supportive challenge, I will encourage you to explore new perspectives, develop resilience, and take meaningful steps toward change—all at a pace that feels right for you. I also recognize the value of humor in the healing process. While we will address deep and sometimes difficult emotions, moments of laughter will be encouraged, as this can provide relief, strengthen connection, and remind us that joy and hardship can coexist.
Behind the Practice: A Sneak Peek
I’m more than just a therapist—I’m someone who truly understands how heavy life can feel at times. There are moments when the weight of emotions, responsibilities, or past experiences can become overwhelming. My own life experiences have deeply shaped my approach to therapy. I recognize that life doesn’t always follow a straight path, and it’s often the messy, unpredictable moments that offer the most valuable lessons. My goal is to support you in cultivating self-compassion and discovery, using practical strategies that encourage forward movement, no matter where you are in your journey.
When I’m not in the office, I love spending time outdoors, playing with our puppy, reading, swimming, spending time on our family farm with our pigs, and surrounding myself with family. Balancing my personal and professional roles is something I value. I believe that my personal experiences and the lessons I’ve learned from them enhance my ability to connect with clients and approach my work with empathy and authenticity. By nurturing my own well-being and staying connected to the things that ground me, I’m able to show up fully for my clients, providing the support and care they need as they navigate their own journeys of growth and healing.
